Ramakrishna Tharini
Partner M.B.B.S. (London) Post-Graduate Diploma in Law (London) Barrister-at-Law (Lincoln’s Inn) Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya Ramakrishna graduated in medicine from Queen Mary University of London with a double distinction. An abiding interest in the law led him to pursue a post-graduate diploma in law at City University, London. He was thereafter called to the English Bar at the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn.
Following his return to Malaysia and after being called to the Malaysian Bar, Ramakrishna was involved in the conduct of numerous clinical negligence claims, many of which involved complex issues of both law and medicine. In the course of his practice, Ramakrishna has been able to draw upon his medical training, which has given him a unique insight in addressing the often-challenging and complex issues arising in clinical negligence practice. Ramakrishna has also been involved in a number of hearings before the Malaysian Medical Council and the Malaysian Dental Council, on behalf of both patients and healthcare practitioners. He has been invited to deliver talks and presentations on topics related to medical law to both members of the medical and legal professions, and is a member of the Medico-Legal Society of Malaysia. Ramakrishna is the co-author of "Medical Law and Ethics in Malaysia" published by Lexis Nexis. He is also a contributing editor to the "Annotated Statutes of Malaysia - Medical Act 1971" and "Annotated Statutes of Malaysia - Private Healthcare Facilities and Services Act 1998", both published by Lexis Nexis. |
Dev Sundram
Partner LL.B (Hons) (Aberystwyth) M.Sc. (Finance and Law) (Newcastle) Barrister-at-Law (Lincoln’s Inn) Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya Dev joined the firm as a partner on 1 August 2022, and manages the firm’s non-medical portfolio. Apart from medical law, Dev’s other key areas of practice are defamation law and industrial relations.
Dev has been involved in the conduct of numerous medical and dental negligence claims. Dev has also been involved in a number of hearings before the Malaysian Medical Council and Malaysian Dental Council, on behalf of both patients as well as healthcare practitioners. In unfair dismissal claims, Dev has advised employees in regard to the lodging of representations with the Industrial Relations Department. Dev has also acted for employees in the Industrial Court and subsequent challenges filed in the civil courts. In libel claims, Dev has experience acting for both plaintiffs as well as defendants. These disputes involve a range of publication mediums, including traditional mediums such as letters, and modern mediums such as social media messaging. |
